Casual Fridays: Step Up Land Walker Mech

Above: The Land Walker Stands Tall
It’s the end of military week at Robotic Revolutions, which means it’s time for Casual Fridays and the usual lighter fare. This week, we’re presenting more YouTube goodness, the Land Walker!
The Land Walker was originally unveiled almost two years ago by Sakakibara Kikai and supposedly designed with “fun” in mind. Ironically, the Land Walker doesn’t live up to its name - it’s more of a Land Shuffler or if you’re feeling generous, a Land Ambler. Presumably there are wheels under its feet, since it can turn in place, but its speed tops out at a whopping one mile per hour.
In August 2006, Masaaki Nagumo, the inventor of this ten-foot-tall mech decided it was worth selling. So if you’ve got $315,000 you need to invest you could buy this or a studio apartment in Boston. Either one is about the same size. In case you’re worried about those guns, they are air powered and shoot foam balls. We assume the Land Walker is another robot that has trouble with stairs.
